When a long pips gives spin reversal it's actually allowing the spin to pass through and comeback to the opponent as though he shot the ball at a mirror. So he gets back the opposite of whatever he gives. I think it would probably be more descriptively called spin continuation, since the ball continues to spin in the same direction. Whereas inverted rubber actually reverses the spin of the ball. So, if you serve backspin to long pips for example, the server will get back topspin, even if the reciever pushes the ball back.

So, when you say you want something spinnier, do you mean you want to allow more spin to pass through (reversal), or do you want to be able to apply more of your own spin?

What thickness of sponge are you using? That makes a big difference. The thicker the sponge the better you can put your own spin on, and generate hitting power. The thinner (esp no sponge) your sponge is the more deceptive the rubber...that is the more spin can pass through.
