A flip is a sort of mini loop or drive that you do when the ball is short but still high enough so that it is at least several inches above the height of the net at the top of the bounce. It's an all-wrist shot on both sides. You're sort of smacking a short high ball downward across the net with some topspin (but not as much as on a full fledged loop). Good for those accidental short, high serves which are usually mistakes on the part of the server. |
