Chinese close to table game typically uses fast all wood 7 ply like avalox 700 or stiga clipper. Then hard rubbers that are quick at the table but not necessarilly fast at a distance like Hurricanes, 729's, etc. That combination allows for spinny serving and pushing until you're ready to kill flat.

The euro rubbers and carbon guys tend to look for loop openings then back up and exchange.
