Personally I use the darker center carbon. It plays like an all around blade but if you hit it hard enough for the hinoki and center carbon layer to kick in it becomes off+. Many people think it feels dead though. They want it to be more springy in the bottom end. They don't like the big, slow first gear.

I tried a butterfly primo vitesse and I'd take that over the carbo any day. My favorite 729 blade is the 6030l. If you need more speed (which the 6030 is pretty fast for a 5ply) then I take people to the blue thunder glassfiber.

On the donics here at megaspin, I like the persson impulse on the fast end. A lot like clipper but lighter. I had a diablo senso that was very nice as an off-.
