Thanx guys. I've seen players circle the table before, but it was only on TV or tape in exhibition matches, so I didn't know how strictly were the rules enforced at the time. Now that you mention one is allowed to touch the body with the racket - are there any players actually using this to serve unexpected spins? Unexpected for the recievers, of course. I guess it would be difficult for the reciever to see whether the server has hit the ball just a fraction of a second before the bat hit the body or in a fraction of a second the racket was stopped against the body or even when it bounced back. I'm speaking hypothetically, of course. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to control such serves. But then again, I don't have a clue about serious table tennis, so, as far as I know, this might be the second lesson kids learn at TT clubs. |
