I do not play RPB, but from what I read, you can either follow the curve and leave the cork as it is or you can take off the cork to have a larger area.
I tried to learn RPB using Chinese style penhold blade, but I did not have the patience to learn and gave it up. If this will be your first trial, I would recommend to leave the cork part as it is, and put the rubber only on the wood part. The reason is : if later you do not like it, you just take off the rubber and that's it. If you take the cork off, when you decide that you do not want RPB then you cannot reinstall the cork (I guess it will be damaged when you take it off). Perhaps you can order the cork from Butterfly but this I have seen only from the Japanese version catalogue.
