Rolling is where you perform a top spin stroke which is just enough spin to send the ball over the net.It is not a loop and in most cases it would be performed by your backhand against an opponent who was pushing a ball short onto your side of the table.
This tends to stop your opponent putting backspin on their push and you should be able to attack any weak return.
