I can only tell from my own experience:
I play about 3 times a week for give and take 3 hours, I apply only one layer of glue on each rubber. After 3 months or so I try to rub the glue off (you can easily do that with your fingers, no other products needed) and then after 6 months it's time for another pair of rubbers
