About the biggest difference between the two I can name is the tackiness of the topsheet. Mendo formula is tackier. So if you're spinning the ball yourself choose mendo. Since you're a block/counter player you may prefer the slicker sriver dry feel. FX is going to be a little softer than even the mendo sponge. How much that matters will depend on what thickness of sponge. Being a block/counter guy probably you may consider a firmer sponge on sriver (at least EL), and maybe in 1.8 - 2.0 thickness?
