Not necessarily. The faster the blade, the less the control (so obviously slower blades have more control, in general). There is much more to table tennis than raw power. Allround players are more likely to win points through consistency shots, i.e moving their opponent out of position by blocking, variations in spin, short touches, etc. Defenders have even slower blades, but usually win by wearing the attacker down, although some will still attack (Chen Weixing). Also, you can still generate good speed with allround blades, more than enough to hit winners past players with faster blades. It depends greatly on the rubbers too. |
