I wouldn't use either to chop with. The german sponge is just too springy to control for consistently defending. If I had to choose between the two, I guess I'd try the -2 since it's more like the traditional chinese rubber. The 40s doesn't even push well. It's pretty much for looping.

If I were going to chop and attack, I'd get something like cream jap 1.5.
