I like to start gently pealing the rubber from the corner next to the handle. If the rubber will not easily lift without tearing or lifting the grain off the blade, take an eyedropper and drip a little solvent between the rubber and the blade as you are peeling. Useable solvents include but are not limited to heptane (rubber cement thinner), naphtha (lighter fluid), acetone (nail polish remover) and Goof Off.

If you are dealing with a cheap pre-made bat, don't waste your time. The glue used is too strong, and you will still have a crappy bat after spending hours on pealing and prep
ing.
