Ive played for like what?5 and a half years already, to block a topspin shot with ur backhand, stay close to the table and just slighty push the ball right off the bounce like right on top of the table.A forehand block i saw ma lin use in a doubles video was like the backhand block but with a forehand and he added a little side sweep motion so the spin doesnt grip the paddle too much, producing a lighter more controlled bounce, make sure to close the racket or else the ball will fly off the table.Counter?I never use penholder, dont ask me with that one haha. And just to let u know i barely see any defensive penholders these days...all offensive,if u wanna return a deep backspin then do what i do,take the oppertunity to use foot work and use a forehand loop that goes more upwards.DO NOT RETURN A DEEP BACKSPIN WITH ANOTHER CHOP.Thats a chizzling game for beginners.good luck
