You heard wrong. I have played 563 on my backhand for over 10 years. I smash very agressivly with it and I have never found the pips to break easily. 799 playes completely different. It plays like a traditional short pip, and supports a more standard inverted rubber type stroke. 799 will not give you any reversal or "wierd" effect and is not considered a "junk" rubber. 563 on 1mm is what I am using. The thinner sponge makes the rubber behave more like a long pip.
