The unfortunate truth is that the equipment is not at fault. You need to learn to read the incomming spin, and make the appropriate blade angle corrections. This is true to some extent even with long pips or anti-spin. If your opponent puts topspin on the ball, it will tend to pop up off a flat blade - you'll need to close (tilt the top of the blade away from you) the blade. If he hits backspin, open the blade. Judging the blade angle and stroke required for varying spins takes time and practice. In general, the tackier the rubber, the more it will react to the incomming spin. Depending on your stroke, this can be a good, or a bad thing. bes p.s. if you are not a new player, and are suddenly (or consistently) popping them up, you probably just need to concentrate more... |
