Chemistry -- the manufacturer's use different methods to get the color. In general, black rubbers seem a bit softer and tackier (due to the addition of carbon black perhaps), while red ones tend to be a bit faster or bouncier (due to a lack of carbon black? - or perhaps due to the dyes and/or pigments used?). I've hear that Butterfly rubbers, or some of them are different/opposite. |
