The following message (subject: Re: 1 2 3 star balls?) was posted by gcollins, on 5/5/2005 9:53:50 PM:
Rod, I haven't had the pleasure of playing with the 755, but everything I've read suggsts some extremely deceptive LP. I have played extensively with Tackiness C. It's one of those rubbers I liked really well at first on FH -- as you said, really good for serving and chopping, but too slow for looping. Main problem for me was the sticky topsheet "de-stickifies" in about three weeks, leaving you with something like thin-sponged Flextra.

On one of my MPs I have Nittaku Spiral (1.6) on the BH and PF4-1 (red) on the FH. I would swear the Spiral in tensioned. It chops as well as the Tackiness C (once you get used to its "bounciness") but it loops much better and lasts much longer. I'd love to try this with a 2.2 sponge for an offensive weapon. But I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that topsheet isn't used elsewhere under a different name and thicker sponge for offense.

On the other MP I have Tackspeed 2000 cut down to 1.5 MRS sponge on the FH (red) and Cream 2.0 MRS on BH. This is a ferocious chop/attack combination. Cole put this one together for me and did a great job. Unfortunately, I just haven't had the opportunity to play with very much. Once I do, I'll do a full-scale review.

I really want to give both the 755 and 799 a try soon.

Thanks for telling me about your combo. If I ever get to the point again that I can get competition for several hours a week, I'll invest in an MPS. I've been told by a knowlegeable coach over here that the MPS really separates from the MP when you go against 2700+ level loopers. Of course, I don't ever get to hit against that kind of player.
