Yeah, Mark, the 729 Cream topsheet is one of the best. Coupled with 2.2 Magic Red Sponge (MRS) or the Japanese sponge (a bit slower), you have a platform suitable for almost any kind of game. On the other hand, I have found all sticky, Chinese-type rubbers to be slow to break-in. In others words, until you put a few hours of practice in, they seem really SLOW. The pushes and chops and serves are all really good from the very beginning, but loops and flat hits stay awfully low and disappointingly slow. This changes dramatically after a few hours of play, a few washings of the sticky surface, and/or a few primings of the rubber with speed (or regular) glue. |
