I took another look at the correspondence between TT Master and the ITTF last night. It would appear that the main argument of the ITTF's is that there is less friction on the title bar and the side of the pips/pimples than on the tips of the pips/pimples. In other words a lack of uniformity. TT Master then pointed out that the ball will not come into contact with the side of the pips /pimples or the title bar.

I then examined my sheet of Butterfly Sriver and I found that there is less friction on the side of the rubber than on the surface because of the exposed sponge. If the ITTF win the court battle next month I would like to see from that moment on all smooth rubber sheets rap around the blade like a taco. Thanks, Ben
