Having just reread the rules, I still see no clear interpretation for the following two dilemmas: #1--The server swings but completely misses the ball. The claim is that this is an improper serve and therefore a point is awarded to the receiving player(s). #2--The receiver returns the ball in such a way as to go around the post and graze the edge of the table, before being deflected away from the table. Rule Quote: The ball, having been served or returned, shall be struck so that it passes over or around the net assembly and touches the opponent's court, either directly or after touching the net assembly. Question: Does the definition of "court" extend to the outer edges of the table? Thanks. hockeybuff |
