I have a blade that has been chipped near the edge in several places. Whenever I pull off a rubber from the blade, little pieces of the outer layer of the blade come off along with the rubber. Everytime I pull off a rubber, the exposed 2nd layer seems to grow larger due to tiny pieces coming off.

How can i prevent this from happening? It's a good blade and I would like to continue to use it for years to come.
