Third title in a row for Ma Lin

ITTF Press Release

Aarhus, Denmark, 15 November 2003. MA Lin (CHN) took the Danish Open title for the 3rd year in a row when he overpowered CHUAN Chih-Yuan (TPE) to win 4-1. The Danish title was MA Lins 3rd Pro Tour title this year.

MA Lin seemed untouchable in the first two games but in the 3rd CHUAN managed to put more pressure on MA and he won it.

The 4th game was crucial. MA took a 7-1 lead, but CHUAN caught him at 8-8 and then the battle started. CHUAN had his first game point at 10-9. He had in total 8 game points before MA Lin won the game 24-22!

Also in the 5th CHUAN had a game point, but he simply could not win the decisive points. MA levelled to 10-10 and went to 11-10.

MAs first match point developed into a fantastic rally with CHUAN saving one impossible shot after the other, but at the end MA took the point and the title.
