Lost to a 1977 that I also lost to in Houston. He is an unorthodox older guy who is playing well and will be moving up after Wesleyan due to some good wins of his own.
He uses spinny inverted on his backhand on top of a 1 mm dead sponge. The sponge lets him block loops and drives while killing their speed, and when he pushes or serves he has huge spin due to the long dwell. Very unusual and tricky. His forehand is 1700 but good enough. |
