Spin is the most important element of modern table tennis. Not only the strength of spin but also the stability and secure feel have been desired by many players. VEGA series is the realization of the dream. VEGA is the mixture of two new technologies - HYPER ELASTO and CARBO SPONGE. Both of them are based on TENSOR technology which gives rubber the effect of built-in tension. HYPER ELASTO provides extreme spin and stability, and black colored CARBO SPONGE provides innovative efficiency of energy. Further, the feel of VEGA is exciting but comfortable. Its ease of use will help players play “winning” table tennis. Now four variations are available. All of them provide exceptional spin capability. VEGA PRO is for extreme spin, softer VEGA ASIA is for more speed, VEGA EUROPE is softer with more control, and finally, the softest VEGA ELITE is for extreme control.

Reviews of XIOM Vega Europe (127)

Mid soft. Gummy topsheet allowing for brushing and loopdriving as well. Great for backhand. Gears are average and great in blocking, countering flat and medium speed loops but nothing that will cause damage beyond moving them around. Not a speed monster but a very good alternative to something like T05FX. Too soft for forehand but perfect for learners and those who want control through blocking and placement with spin. Not bad for its price. Works best with stiff blades and low dwell time because it dwells quite a bit already.

Fantastic BH rubber for intermediate level players like me who are two winged loopers. The rubber nearly has the control of a Mark V but with a controllable catapult effect, which, in addition to adding gears, makes VE far more interesting with which to play.

Ideal intermediate setup: H301/TBS/INNERFORCE ALC or ZLC + 09C (FH) + Vega Europe (BH).

I use 2.0 on my backhand on Yasaka Sweed Extra ! the controll is out of this world the bh flicks are insane ! just try it with Yasak sweede Extra blade you will love it all the way to advance .

Bad durability, played 3hr and there is a crack by the edge of the rubber, but it's nice to play bh with

My favorite all-rounder.
It's good for everything and has no real weakness. Can be glued on any type of blade.
Not very speedy but if you know how to activate the tensor you can get enough speed to score. For specific game styles there are better options of course but if you look for a balanced rubber on the inexpensive side, this is the safest bet on the market today.

Tacky rubber with good speed, spin & control. Works well on an offensive carbon blade. I use it on forehand & it's consistently giving good results.

This rubber is sensational for the backhand, this was my second rubber, before I played with Chinese rubbers. With xiom vega europe I was able to improve my backhand technique a lot, I was able to flick with a lot of power and control. I think the strength of this rubber is that it transfers the force of the movement very well without losing control and speaking of control, this rubber is excellent for counter-attacking and blocking, both passive and aggressive. For flicks it hooks up very well, it's quite direct. My only "complaint" is that it could generate more spin, to compensate for how direct it is. But for that it would have to be harder, it has 42 hardness. Recommended for any intermediate player who wants speed/control and confidence in his backhand.

I'm using 1.8 mm on an allround penhold blade.

Excellent feel & control. Also, I like the throw angle which keeps the ball lower over the net & prevents my opponent from an easy attack off a high ball.

Being medium soft and a slower tensor rubber, it allows me to place the ball more accurately on short game and makes it easier for me to loop the ball, though not the most powerful loop (it could be because of my age too :) )

All in - it's a pretty forgiving rubber, fast enough for my level of play (as an intermediate leisure player) and reasonably priced.

I bit soft for me, in short game the catapult effect is noticeble, and when you hit hard, it bottoms out quick. It is very controlable, because of its speed, but I don't like the non linearity of it (my opinion). Now lets go for the game perception: Drives are easy to do, top spins are spinny but not very fast, short game is a little bit hard due to high catapult effect, loops are easy and spinny. Far from the table it lacks power, but medium distance is okay. When it wears out, it gets very inconsistent.

I had to come back here and change my review. I thought the rubber was rubbish, but tried it on a different blade and it plays way better. I use it on my backhand, for forehand the sponge is too soft. Max sponge feels and looks like 2.0 since the topsheet is thicker than lets say Donic Bluefire M3. Pimples are spread wider, so even with low speed shots the rubber wraps around the ball nicely, since it just sinks into it. Its great for banana flick. Although there is a downside to this topsheet because it gets gripped by the ball on contact and then springs out wildly. Angle of the throw is way harsher, since it just sinks in and springs back, so it is harder to control in that manner when taking shots from opponent. What I mean by that is that you will have to correct all the incoming spins by adjusting the racket angle way more than with the other rubbers. It is also tensor rubber with springy sponge, so it doesn't forgive you if you missread your oponnent or you apply to much force yourself. Topsheet is not that spin sensitive and produces good spin, but the elasticity of it makes it spin sensitive. Speed is very decent, but it is easy to bottom out this rubber, which I find myself loving to do. When you smack it close to the table it hits hard. Mid distance is also ok. When you get used to its non linear nature its good for blocks aswell, high throw helps here. To sum it up I would say its is actually very good rubber in Speed/Spin department.
Small Update: I think it is the best rubber I used for my BH due to how light it is and how topsheet wraps around the ball, very elastic. Don't put it on flexxy blades though like Stiga AC, hard to control then. I used it on Tibhar IV-L and it felt great on BH, but on Yasaka SE it is straigh fire.

Used as BH rubber, following many recommendations online.
I like it, I honestly can't tell the difference between this and rakza 7 soft which I use now.
Both are medium soft and nice rubbers. I am able to hit quite hard with BH on them, and keep the ball on the table. Sometimes I'll throw in a BH serve with right sidespin, and it often gives trouble to the opponents.
Xiom vega europe in 2.0 was perfectly fine as a BH rubber for me, when I was learning to play, and also as intermediate. I think that the softness makes it easier to execute faster shots with less effort.

Nice rubber. Used it on the backhand and forehand. good control and decent spin.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

It suits perfect to my backhand, but it tears apart as soon as you touch the table with it, i was about to rate it 3.5 out of 5, but maybe i should use edge tape
Review helpful?    Yes | No

CONTROL! That's the one word I'd use to define it.
Coming from Tenergy 80 and Omega VII (on my backhand) I was a bit dubious, also because Vega is cheaper, but I gave it a shot..and OMG this is way better for me! The perfect backhand rubber.
Medium-soft sponge (42,5 degrees), great feeling, super consistent, low throw arc. Vega is great if you look to control the game with blocks close to the table, it gives you a huge amount of confidence. And also you have all the gears you need for your backhand loop from close to mid range.
Give it a try, also considering the price.

Max thickness is 61g uncut, 43g cut. Easy to play rubber for any level. It's easy to make spin on any shot with this rubber. However, the problem with this rubber is topsheet durability. The topsheet starts showing abrasion and loses grip after only 5 hours of play. This doesn't affect shots that sink into the sponge, but affects brush shots.

Amazing rubber,spin is INSANE
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Recommend, a do-it-all rubber. I prefer playing with softer rubbers, this one feels medium soft and it just feels right for me. Spin is good, speed is good, control is superb. As a average player this is a rubber I do not have any struggles with and it provides me the abbility to play opening (topspin) shots with confidence. Symply stated the ball just land on the table more with slow up to high speed hits/strokes. If you like to play with soft rubbers, this one is the one that gives you confidence in all the shots in general. This is a keeper.

Nice control and very spinny
Review helpful?    Yes | No

This was my first backhand rubber and probably one of my favorite rubbers of all time. This rubber is easy to control yet you can still do killing smashes and blocks. I used backhand serves back then and it would pretty much kill my opponent immediately. This is a very beginner friendly rubber and still usable. I recommend this rubber to every beginner to intermediate level player.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Slow, can't produce any spin, too soft sponge, very light, medium throw angle... Speed 6, spin 5, control 7, overall 6/10. Awful rubber in today's era. Only pros is this rubber is spin insensitive (like many Xiom rubbers) so when they serve you heavy spin you can do backhand flick, but not every time because sponge is soft so rubber is inconsistent. They (some people and forums) recommended to me this rubber for BH side because I am beginner but this is useless rubber. I am using now Omega V euro and that rubber is excellent! Omega series rules! Vega sucks!
Review helpful?    Yes | No

I think this rubber is good for beginner player. I prefer to play with much harder rubbers. For me its very slow and no catapult effect, so you must to do full topspin move to make ball reach another side of table. But anyway its the easier rubber to make counter topsins

I am a penholder and i always use spin.fyi i never smash. So, when i found out about this rubber i tried it out and it was amazing. The spin was very spinny although the speed wasn't very fast . I use yinhe y15 blade, rozena for rpb backhand and xiom vega for fh.

Sadly, this doesnt seem to play as it used to. I reccomend Butterfly Rozena, great and better alternative if you are looking at this rubber.

Ratings for 2.0mm. Good pace, easy to smash with. Nice for beginners or kids.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

XVE I used 1.8mm- very high level of control and helps to bring down the pace of rallies while being able to generate power on its own if needed. This rubber being so light and soft is good in accelerating to loop the ball and generating spin. A great rubber for beginners learning to spin the ball and for intermediate control players. For more advanced perhaps the MAX or 2mm will be more appropriate.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Probably one of the best BH rubbers. Great control and spin, not too fast but also not too slow. I can feel more confident when making BH shots with this rubber.

UPDATE 04/12/2020: Did not changed the sheet , still going good! I do see the edges chipping off a lot though, and it became much softer with the prolonged use, but the topsheet grip is still intact. UPDATE 04/24/2019 : Best rubber for blocking, fishing, and confidence booster in the loops. I indeed recommend this rubber to the players who is beginning to adapt to an allround looping game. I've had this rubber on my BH for about a week , later switched my FH side with DHS H301 for about a month (as I lack confidence on my FH at this point and needed a forgiving rubber). I don't have any complaints what so ever, as I'm learning to control the ball placement much efficiently on the other rubbers used so far on my FH. Spin is really good, And speed is enough. Lifting back spins is easy from FH, but was much better on BH snaps/flicks. Anyway, Super satisfied overall.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

I have been using this rubber on my backhand for about a year now. I usually play 3 times per week at a club. This rubber is still in great condition. The control in this rubber is its best characteristic. It is able to create spin as well as block consistently. It has a great feel every hit. The only problem is getting speed on far away loops/hits. It can generate good spin when looping but tough to get high speed. I have been using an allround-wood blade so this may be apart of it. Overall I prefer this rubber to butterfly sriver. It feels alive when hitting and I can trust it to make a shot. I recommend this rubber to players that are looking to learn how to implement high spin and control on the backhand. It will probably be too slow on the forehand.

Really great rubber! I use it with Donic Appelgreen Allplay from both sides. Speed is good enough. Spin is excellent. Very good choice for allround players.

Great bh rubber. Too soft for fh. It is not very soft, but on fh prefer smth harder. Excelent control, flicks, backspin loops.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Soft, lightweight, fast, springy, medium throw, controlled rubber with good spin. I came from hard high throw rubbers like baracuda and MX-P so it took me some adjusting. Very good for driving, not so much for counter looping. I like this rubber but, I miss being a hardcore looper so decided to move on.

4/20/2018:Bought on recommendation of user :"superspin''. Amazing rubber.Best rubber for me to loop and lift backspin.I have never looped so beautifully....high to medium high arc+loops land very deep with great speed.I have on it DHS 301 blade.Super light rubber, cut rubber was 40 grams only-lightest I ever used.High grade topsheet-very grippy, bit tacky,Very good for pushes, accurate placement.net play awesome, I can play until mid distance also without problem. My FH flick for receive has skyrocketed.Update:20 March 2018-had to remove as a friend hit it on table creating a hole. But while removing the sponge showed how strong it was.
Update-31 August,2019-Still feel it's a great rubber, but topsheet is fragile........ruptures easily. But spin is still intact after more than 1 year.Blocks are too good.

I used this rubber on BH, very explosive, nice to block and make topspin shoots, the down side are the gears, not many, hiting harder or not you will not get much difference on the shoot speed, apart from that its a very good bh rubber, also easy to service with and make service returns

I find it a very good rubber for my Forehand (i play with Hurricane Long 5).. Ive tried many soft Rubbers (Acuda S3-Tenergy 05 fx-Rasant Powersponge-Rasanter R42 and R37, Bluefire M3) and i can say you that its not worse than the others and that its cheaper.. Its nice because it has a very good Quality for a small Price!! I paid 25 Euros against the 50 for the Tenergy!

Good rubber if you like soft rubber. Comparable with rakza 7 soft .
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Hands down best rubber for intermediate-level play. Probably good for certain advanced-level styles too.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Used max thickness on the backhand. Its best attribute is control. It also lasts a long time, and can't beat the price. The max thickness was not good for me. Pushing was difficult. Didn't like the medium to low throw angle. used it on a 7 ply wood blade. maybe it's better on a carbon blade. Spin and speed is ok.

I bought this rubber as an intermediate player keen to move on from Sriver to develop a more attacking style. Initially I found it difficult to control after the relatively deadening sriver but I soon got used to it and now find it helps my looping and especially counter looping and loop blocking. I don't find it so easy to push but this is probably just my bad technique. It gives a great range between snappy hitting and more delicate controlled play - I'd recommend to non beginners looking to speed up your game- written by my friend
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Very fast but reactive and requires almost 80-85 degree loop angle, very closed and caused mistakes due to that angle. I mischief prefer more open face looping rubbers. I moved it to backhand and was the same angle face but a very fast but lost spin over 2-1/2 months. I am trying a different rubber, it's good but to fast for me and not my style of play. 3.5 of 5 would recommend for fast European away from table players

Very nice pliable and grippy rubber sheet. I use max and the spin while looping is good. Very strong driving loops, good control on short ball loops, and controlled blocks. Good offensive rubber sheet, off the table chops/slices are very doable if you have the technique. This is a good offensive rubber that makes looping and playing spinny shots fun. It's got good dwell time and after a couple weeks it feels like the ball sinks into the sponge and topsheet with nice feel during shots with a lot of wrist across the ball.

Each sheet of this rubber looks fresh. It's superbly elastic, has durable topsheet and nice black soft sponge.
This rubber is on softish side, use blades with harder outer/bit stiffer to get maximum potential out of this.
Phenomenal control - quite easy to play where you want even if your technique is struggling yet. Great rubber for backhand play close to the table. In some way negate incoming spin during receives but you can block stable incoming attacks. For begginer-intermediate it's must a try rubber. Performance, quality and durability is superb with this price.

This rubber is the top winner when you compare performance to price. Tenergy prices are up again so decided to give this one a try on BTY Viscaria. I am an intermediate tournament player and find this rubber superb for my level. Strong spin, speed and excellent control so what more could you ask from a rubber at this price point. High grade topsheet with med/soft sponge makes for a very playable rubber. You know your not going to the Olympics peeps so do yourself a huge favor and try this rubber. Even Tenergy users will be surprised at the performance at half the price. Loops are dynamic and loaded with topspin, short game is direct with much control. Blocks well, counters fast. As a reference I was using T80FX and love this rubber even more. I love this rubber on FH. No this rubber is not only for beginners! Great rubber for everyone except hardbat and drunk players. Update: How some reviewers here call this rubber slow/ lacks spin is astounding, it simply is not true if you have good strokes and technique. This rubber has an intuitive nature as it seems to follow your arm speed/angle to guide your shot. Works great on FH or BH on a fast OFF or OFF+ blade. Upgraded to an overall score of 10. This rubber is the same price as several classic rubbers however the performance leaves them behind. I believe this rubber is the only rubber I have ever awarded a score of 10. Update: Tried this rubber on a ALL+ class blade. I was surprised that the speed element was still there on a slower class blade. This combo is very good for close to table loopers. Short game was excellent, blocking excellent, just a tic slower for counters and smashes but still remained fast. The absolute best choice for intermediate level control loopers who think can't afford the high price Tenergy's.

Used on Joola Rossi Emotion, Joola MC1 and Tibhar Stratus PW. Extremely well balanced rubber. Great control, with soft sponge and good feel. With only low/medium throw angle looping heavy backspin may require more effort than some rubbers with higher throw angles. It's speed is more than adequate and spin is enough for most applications. If you're looking for hard, fast, high throw rubber (eg Tenergy 05) then XVE is a terrible idea. HOWEVER, if you're looking for a 'do it all', relatively soft and very well balanced rubber, it's exceptional.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Very good rubber for the money, a bit too slow for my liking, played with it for 3 weeks (thickness=max) on FH and BH on T-8, Stratus Power-wood and Zetra Quad.
It lacks the power on hard strokes and bottoms out quickly. So you can't execute same strokes as playing with Vega Pro or Rasant or Sigma Euro (1 and 2) or Tenergy 05. But it should be good for allround stile and not very aggressive backhand side.

(used in 1.8mm on BH, Allround blade)

This rubber generates very good topspin from smaller-moves BH counterhits, and combined with the higher arc allows me good BH topspin-blocks as well.
I like it a lot when hitting with friends (when it comes to points, I use long pips). Feels medium-soft to me, and is rather light, circa 38g glued. I have not tried enough pushes/return serve and don't have a real BH loop. Given the moderate price, it achieved my goal of having fun. Next time however I'll search for something lighter, even if pricier.

This Xiom Vega Europe rubber is more like the new generation of Bty. Sriver & Yasaka MarkV rubbers. It is good in speed, spin & control for most of the average level non-pro. players who want allround rubbers. I noticed the shrinking problem too as mentioned by others. It can be corrected by drying the new glue longer and removing old glue if you re-glued.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Used on BH. Non-tacky and soft topsheet, medium-soft sponge, medium-light weight, medium to medium-low throw rubber. Had a much lower throw angle than vega pro when looping both on my fh. This did make it easier to block on bh(which is one of the reasons I got it for its lower rated throw angle) but I felt that the soft sponge bottomed out too much(even in max) and too often(even at lower speeds like say flat fh medium warmup) for my liking. The softness also limited the speed of my bh smashes, for which I can probably engage(compress) a harder sponge for a bit more speed. With the blade coming into play sooner, the spin becomes limited at this point creating a flatter arc than vpro. Weight in red max is 41 g cut, so medium-light, and 60 g uncut. I noticed about 1-2 mm shrinkage after 4 months.

Has this rubber recently changed? I bought a new sheet in 2015 and it is not as lively as it used to be. Still a very good rubber but "deader", not as fast and spinny as before! Has anybody noticed this too?

Using 2 of these (2mm - BH & FH) with a Xiom Aria (ST).

After 6+ hours of trainning, i feel very happy with it.

You want to play slow strokes? Just make a slow stroke. You want to kill the point? Make a strong stroke. I never really understood the concept of gears until playing with this one. The speed is there, but you will access it with a stroke with speed and energy.

That's why the rubber has a lot of speed, but remains with a lot of control.

With my current setup (mentioned above) i can play until mid distance without problem.

Topspin/agressive strokes are very easy to do (lifting underspin, drive, brush loop, smashing).

For blocking it's OK.

I would not use it as a mainly chopping rubber, for me, it works better as a offensive rubber.

Service reception is up to you. The rubber allows your to flick, drive, push short and long. Against some players it was very easy (mainly because i could read the spin and act correctly, making a full ofensive since the recepction). Against others it was harder (is it side spin? no spin? omg it's already out of my range, damn).

The spin is good. Making services are easy.

I think it's a perfect rubber for all around/agressive game, very equilibrated and controlled.

Tried this one for a few weeks, good control due to soft rubber, excellent for brush looping and chop, but not good for power looping or smashing. Used 2.0 black on forehand. Did not work out for me on forehand, will try Razka 7. Certainly not 9.0 in speed more closer to Razka soft, my rating 8.7 for speed.

A good and balanced rubber. I've been playing with F3 and F3 Big Slam for years now, and was getting a bit bored (and tired of changing rubbers every 5 months). A friend of mine made me try this Vega Europe, and I finally bought one for myself.

First of all, the sponge is said to be around 42, but the topsheet is really elastic, which gives the impression of a medium-soft rubber, I'd say around 37-38. The build quality is really great. The throw angle is quite high, it took me 2-3 sessions to get fully used to it.

Due to the elastic topsheet, this rubber is very good for topspin player, not that fast though, I'd say it's a OFF- rubber. It's quite dynamic, so easy to topspin with, but not that easy to impart lots of spin to the ball that pops out of the rubber quite fast. So if you like to puts lots of spin in the ball, this may not be the best choice. As the sponge is firm, it behaves very well on more passive shots, quite good for blocks, short game and even defense.

Overall I'd say this is a very versatile and durable rubber for offensive topspin players who like to go for several topspins and don't rely only on the spin of their ball. If you really rely on placement and heavy spin and not only offensive shots, I'd rather go with a Vega Pro that offers more control, more spin, but is more demanding (you need to put in more effort to get a faster ball). This Vega Europe is quite dynamic, so I find it sometimes difficult to correctly spin the ball.

After my pair of acuda's worn out, i wanted something more spinner and with a little more kick. And i found what i was looking for in the Vega Europe. Max on a OFF blade they play best.
Great spiny surface great for serves and brush loops. Good kick in loops if you do a full stroke. Great spiny pushes, very controllable. Great control in power loops and counter loops. Blocks are ok, good for a soft-ish rubber.
If you are looking for a spiny rubber with lots of control and a bit of a kick, this is it.

Update: I bought a fresh rubber in 2015 and they have changed it a bit. It is softer, the softest of the Vega series, a bit slower with more control, same good grip. Good for backhand use.

This is my absolute favorite rubber of all time. I can't imagine discovering a rubber that fits my style of play better than this one. Xiom has gained one more loyal fan and customer by producing the Xiom Vega Europe rubber for my ever so horrible backhand. Now my backhand isn't a weakness! Since first impressions always matter, I've got to say that this is one sexy looking rubber. It has a black sponge and with either the black or red rubber, it will look just classy. This rubber produces a very nice topspin with a very good arc that rarely hits the net or misses the table. It is also excellent for blocking though I tend to have some problems when chopping but that may be my technique, anyway, I don't chop much so it isn't a problem for me. Its control is out of this world. I think this is the closest thing to a self-playing rubb!
er that has been made. You just place the paddle wherever the ball is going, adjust your angle, adjust your shot power/speed accordingly, adjust your wrist movement (is any) and the ball will simply hit the other side of the table. Say no more. One of the very few negative thing I have to say about this rubber is that it tends to attract plenty of dust but that may be it's only con (for me, of course). I am currently using it on a kind of slow blade but it produces great speed nonetheless. Amazing allaround rubber most suitable for the backhand. Very good! Did I mention it is my favorite rubber? Only way I'll change it is if Xiom makes a newer version of the Vega Europe that includes a black sponge. How cool would that be? Oh wait. It already has a black sponge! Gee! It's the perfect backhand rubber!

Smash is perfect, drive and counter very good, serve and shortplay is good, loop is decent aswell. Very good control.

The sponge and the topsheet are so well matched, you dont even think about it. Maybe the best sponge ive tried.

I really like this rubber. I put it on the forehand side of my Kreanga Carbon to replace some Butterfly Cermet rubber. Speed/Spin is comparable to Cermet but I think the control was better and the sound/feel was better. My admittedly crappy looping skills have only improved with this and I'll note that blocking is fairly easy with this.

I will say that it is highly susceptible to dust and will turn into anti-spin rather quickly compared to a sticky chinese rubber when not cleaned regularly. I'd say it needs cleaning about once per 45 minutes unless you're playing with clean balls that have already been broken in.

Also, I've noticed that if your sweat gets on it (such as if you try to wipe it with your hand/arm in a pinch), it will turn rather slick for about 10 minutes while the skin oils absorb into it. That is a bad thing and so I try to avoid touching it except with a sponge and distilled water. That is rather effective at cleaning it.

As advertised, it's really not sticky at all and kitchen plastic wrap only barely sticks to it.

I'm not sure if it's inherent to this rubber/sponge or if I stretched it too much during application but the edges are starting to puff up and I will have to re-glue it soon. I can already tell there will be about a 2% shrinkage of the rubber when I do this and it won't reach to the rim of the paddle anymore. If you're using a strong glue on a normal paddle this may not be a problem for you but I was using butterfly free chack on a Kreanga Carbon blade which has a VERY slick surface. I will have to be very careful in the future to select rubbers for this blade that are unlikely to shrink. The Yin He Venus 2 rubber on my backhand has not shrunk at all and is holding tight with the same glue and application process.

This was also my first Xiom product. I was fairly impressed and I think I will be buying from them more in the future. I will just be more careful with the gluing and use a different blade for it.

I started using a week back on my Joola Rossi emotion (carbon). I shifted from Mambo H to this one, and i could see visible difference in the spin and speed. My opponents says that the ball now has more kick, and also swings. I never changed my style tho. The throw angle is perfect for chopping, but when trying to loop the ball comming with underspin, i do have problem. But may be it is my techniq issue.

It suits all more for smashes and chops. Looping is also easier on no-spin or top spin balls, but slightly difficult on the underspins.

I have P7 on my FH and accidentally i ended up piercing the topsheet as it scratched against one of the corners of the table. So, while replacing, i will go with this one. IT is 1/2 the price of P7, and very spinny and speedy too. This is the best BH rubber i used (Mambo H, Genius sound, Tackifire special).

When you read all above you may think it's a self playing rubber. It is stupid. I can't understand how you can call it controllable rubber. It is extremely bouncy - more than anything i tried and that's why control is LOW. This soft sponge is so live and is always in action. This rubber is for blockers because you can strike bullets with it. I tried it several times on different blades and i can say this rubbers is for amateur play - when the ball flies high and you can smash all the time. Vega pro has a harder sponge and that's why it's not so bouncy and more controllable rubber. The only reason for using it is the low weight.
Fast on slow strokes and slow on fast strokes - opposite of the good rubbers.

Amazing backhand rubber.
Lots of control, good spin, speed lacks a little bit but is all well when you engage the soft sponge.
More control than Tenergy 64, same speed, a tad slower. I use it on MAX on a Xiom Stradivarius blade for my BH. The spin and control is phenomenal.

Very good rubber! I use it on my fh with Zhang Jike blade. Its fast, spinny and has good controll. A bit too fast for me, probably because i came from a primorac off- blade with joola energy x-tra racket.

Great product by Xiom.
Softer, light, tensor rubber of a good quality.
Hardness :
Xiom rates its sponge softer then Pro version of Vega. It is hard to feel the difference on touch. Top sheet is lot softer then Pros. It has higher pips. Soft top sheet adds spin at low speeds but also contributes to bounciness. Maybe with avg technique one should be careful with short under-spin balls (some time those pop up).
Top spin game is great. Openings are strong (probably the best), mid distance is very solid too. Catapult, high spin, easiness of play are all there when less then 2 meters away. Rubber clicks hard almost all the time, some may find this useful to correct technique.
If you go back more then 2 m, in my opinion, rubber starts developing some problems due to the softness. Harder you hit, more and more you will feel the blade coming into the play. No so much on a BH but on FH deffo.
Other parts of the game with this rubber are all there. Service is great, so i blocking, pushing and so on... You may need some to adjust but by no means will you be disappointed with this rubber performance.
Highly recommended rubber to a close to the table fast players who love control. Recommended on BH side of the blade. Would also recommend Vega Euro to the players whose physical ability is not a top notch or have some type of physical limitation. Bounciness and control (hard to put those two together but Vega Euro does menage) may help you with ball placement and compensate for the lack of foot work to some degree.
Would not recommend this rubber on FH at all (well maybe beginners can use it as FH rubber but ...). Definitely if you are heavy hitter from a distance there may be some better alternatives.
In any case if you like to try this rubber out you will not throw away your 40$!!
Hope this helps a bit. Have fun playing TT.

A very good BH rubber, extremely easy to use. I have 2.0 mm XVE mounted on a Juic SB Alpha. I should have gotten the XVE in Max. Good spin, great control, but slower than I'd like. I'd like to try the Max version on a faster blade. Glueing was a challenge--the sponge is all air, like soap bubbles--but I got it on using a VOC-free latex glue. (Do NOT use VOC glue!)

Overall a very good and linear rubber.

But You should use it on a medium or hard carbon blade. I'm using it red max. on a Donic Waldner Senso Ultra Carbon, and it's perfect on BH. I can topspin backspin easilly, it has many gears for me, spin, speed, blocks and control are great. Nice short play, enough power from mid distance. Not bouncy, throw is very linear comparing to other tensors.

But on a standard all-wood Tibhar Stratus Power Wood it feels mushy, too slow etc.

So in conclusion, it is really good as BH rubber on a harder carbon blades.

I love its speed and its control. I've no problem in adapting to this rubber. Thing that make me love this rubber is its throw angle - just perfect for me.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Has very good speed, spin and control. My red rubber has a higher throw throw than the current ratings suggest. I would rate mine as 6 out of 10. The rubber is a little harder than what I use on my other blades (Joola Energy Green and Tango). for my all round game I can use it on the forehand or backhand.

I use it 2mm on BH in Nimatsu Celsior 5.6 blade. It's medium-soft rubber, true fast with excellent control in all shots. Perfect and quite easy for attacking and defence too, but it isn't one of the fastest.

This rubber is almost too easy to use. Looping is great with this rubber, there is tons of grip and spin.

Blocking is very pleasant, although I personally would like a little more bounce, like tenergy 05 fx or acuda s3.

A very good rubber overall for the intermediate player, but for the advanced player, this rubber has a few too many gears, and doesn't really challenge the player using it enough.

The first impression wearing this rubber is so amazing because it is easy for heavy topspin balls. After 1 week I feel the rubber does not have the energy to return the ball from the opponent's weak unless we have a little give power to drive the ball. For beginners who learn topspin rubber is perfect. High control to block and smash, need for speed harnessing power from your opponent. After 1 month my impression, to fall like a rubber ball is not different from the other attack but looked slow in the long ball rally. The advantage in this rubber is a nice spin and control when attacking or being attacked.

Very solid rubber from Xiom! Great for sidespin topspin loops, topspin smashes, blocking...

This rubber is missing a significant amount of speed and spin when compared to any of the tenergy rubbers (except that it has quite a bit more spin than tenergy 64)

This rubber isn't the best for chopping, but it is pretty solid at close-to-the-table play!

Overall it's a pretty high quality rubber, and for 37 bucks, it's more than worth it!

I have just started using this rubber. But there is something going on here, and it needs to be addressed, a problem I have had with several Vega Series rubbers:

Simply put, this stuff SHRINKS like crazy. I just installed it in my Timo Boll ALC. I used one thin coat of Butterfly Free Chalk as I do with all rackets I install (I work part time in a pro shop And glue rubber daily). The sponge sucked up the glue and wouldn't stick. I used a second coat. Same thing. It wound up taking FOUR coats of glue before I had enough glue built up to stick this stuff on! It was ridiculous! But I pro cut it (left about 2mm of overhang on all edges as the pros often do) and went out to play.

But that's not the end: The sponge SHRANK and popped off the blade as I used it. I was pissed. When I walked back into the shop to glue it again, I discovered that, while I had left 2mm of overhang on all sides when I cut it, the sheet had shrunk so much that it barely covered the face now! If I had cut it flush, I would have been screwed, with $80 of unusable rubber!

I finally wet glued it and put it under a stack of books for the night. That did the trick.

Watch out for this. It seems like a good rubber. But i glue rubbers almost daily, have installed dozens. I have NEVER seen a rubber behave like this before, even the tensors. I don't like it. It looks like crap the way it has shrunk, and i paid a good bit for it. I think i will go for Butterfly next time.

Has a very soft feel with gobs of dwell and spin. Short game and service are terrific. You can really grab and direct the ball on your loops and pushes. My sheet has been abused for about 40 playing hours but the grip and spin are very much intact.

Only downside for me is that there's a pronounced catapult effect once you start making a bigger stoke and the speed seems to kick in out of nowhere. Even when I made a good spinny contact, my loops were missing long and this has taken some adjustment for me. Still, overall the performance is great and the value is ridiculous.

Excellent BH rubber. Loops are spinny and very easy to do. Short game is also very easy because this rubber has so many gears. Cant find any problem with it yet :) Great sound as well.

Really nice rubber for forehand or backhand. I tried it on a Nittaku Latika. Amazing spin on loops, good serves, got good pop but most importantly is the unbelievable control. The sponge is quite soft and the throw angle is around medium. I haven't tried T05, but I think that this is a bit of a step down in spin and speed but a big step up in control. Really nice rubber for controlled attacking play, on forehand it might be a little lacking for some though.

I have to say that i wasn't impressed at first try, but after a month i have to say that this is a really good rubber, good speed, really good spin and amazing control, the only thing I still don't like about it is the service, it's not as spinny as chinese rubbers in the service.

I use the 2mm black on Yasaka Extra BH. The rubber is easy to use. Adapted to it immediately. It is very forgiving and gives lots of confidence. Result: I feel like I can do any passive or aggressive shot. Looping feels almost ridiculously easy. It is easy to vary the spin, speed and length of the shot using XVE, The sponge gives lots of power for away from table shots. Counter attacks are strong. The only reason why it is not also on my FH is because I like a slightly harder feel on FH. Otherwise, it is also a great FH rubber for lots of topspin. And yes, nice sound!

Great rubber, bought to replace Spinart on my backhand.
Top sheet has a quality appearance, is a Tensor and does not sit flat before gluing.
Has good lift, higher throw, good for flicks, chops need a stroke adjustment due to the long dwell, but then they are excellent for the short game with lots of spin with loads of control. Blocks easy, Looping and counterlooping were shockingly good, even very hard hits seem to always clear the net and dive down on the other side with a good kick, you can feel the sponge grabbing the ball and catapulting back out, needs a more closed blade stroke than my previous rubbers.
It has definitely improved my game, and gives extra confidence that any of your shots will land.
I am sufficiently impressed to have ordered another sheet for the forehand, I have tried several different rubbers and bats in the last 6 months, won't be looking anymore.
Rubber 2mm on Boll Spirit.
Great sound too!

one of the best rubber i ever used. the big window is not mith it actually noticeable straight away, exellent for all strokes especially top spin and loops. pushing and chopping needs little practise but after couple of hour its no prob. usefull info on sponge hardness vega euro is 36degree,vega pro 38degree and omega pro feels 37-39 degree, rateing by manufacturer is misleading. these rubbers r not suitable for novice.

I was testing this rubber some time ago. It is enough fast, good ball feeling but it has a poor spin comparing to the chinese rubbers. I had big troubles to get the ball over the net from choped strokes. Chinese rubbers (DHS) are the best so far (spin, speed, controll, price. On the other hand chinese need a different technique and more power). This is not a bad rubber but definitelly not that good like some people say.

EDIT October 2011: Ratings updated. I gave one more chance to this rubber and after a few hours with that I must say it is really good rubber. The topsheet isn't tacky but has a decent grip, sponge is medium-soft. From my game experience and observation there are 2 types of rubbers - 1) tacky surface rubbers, generating spin mostly by the topsheet. These rubbers usually use hard sponges. 2) untacky or slightly tacky soft sponge rubbers. These rubbers use the sponge more for generating spin.
Xiom Vega Europe is the 2nd case. It's spin isn't somehow extra high, my rating is 8. Chinese tacky rubbers produce much more spin, no doubt. I'm wondering what would happen if there was a rubber, tacky topsheet and soft sponge. I'd say the result will be the "killer spin" but I don't know... If it worked like that, DHS and more chinese brands would use that. Back to Vega. Not a huge spin, lower speed, nice ball feeling. That window effect is really good but it works only in faster drive/top spin rallyes. If you wanna open the game from a strong chop, it is not easy at all. Ok, it depends on your technique but I still prefer to open the game using my DHS Skyline forehand. The last thing - I don't like the sound, it's strange. Conclusion - great rubber for low to medium skilled all-round players, still developing technique. I don't recommend it for pure attackers or top players.

I bought this rubber with the max thickness. I was really impressed by the throw angle, topspin is incredible good, looping is excellent. Unfortunately this rubber has also a downside: After using it for about 3 month I realised that the spin is remarkable less than in the beginning. Smashes were also not consistent any more.

One month ago, I bought the Xiom Vega Europe rubber in red and black both 2.2 mm, glued on an offensive Butterfly Innerforce ULC-blade.
I'm very satisfied with it, it has really good feeling and killer spin.
Vega Europe is also excellent for blocking and chopping with much control.
The weight is very good, it's a bit lighter than Butterfly Tenergy 64.
I like it way more than the expensive Butterfly Tenergy 64 (wich I've played with 1 year), because durability is way better, after I've played 1 month with it, the surface of the topsheet almost was unaffected.
Another important reason why you should buy Xiom Vega Europe and not Butterfly Tenergy 64: the power of topspin of the Vega Europe is way higher than that of the Tenergy 64.
The black carbo-sponge is very nice, I love it, it's very cool and professional looking.
Price is 30 euros, compared with Tenergy 64 --> 56 euros, so you save 26 euros what's quite much...
Smashing is much easier with the Vega Europe than with the Tenergy 64, it feels better, and sound is nicer.
Xiom Vega Europe is a good rubber for short, but bit more for mid-distance players, if you buy it in max. long distance shouldn't be a problem either.
Hopefully this review helped you as good as possible ;).
Greetings,

Jason

Xiom Vega Europe was a big surprise to me. After a long search Tenergy 25 was always my favourite, because it had wonderful allround capabilities on my Juic Kalinic. When B. raised the prices so extremely I said good bye. Not because I can`t afford it, especially since I play long pimples (Friendship 837 0,5mm) on one side and only need one of them at a time, but I kind of felt insulted by the B.-pricing strategy. So I took it down immediatly although it was still pretty new. First I switched back to cheap chinese rubbers and tested some tuning, because the pros do it all the time anyway but after reading what people play now I found out about the Vega Series. Since I´m a middle class player I thought I`d be a little bit careful for once and test the Vega Europe "although" it`s said to be the slowest. I actually thought I´d use the Vega Asia in the beginning, but now I´m very happy I gave the Vega Europe a chance and I am absolutely delighted! I do have the Impression it produces less spin, but one thing is for sure: my top-spins sink extremely deep after they hit the table. What is also amazing is the amount of gears Vega Europe has. It is really very good in the short game, although some people perceive it as too bouncy, but thats not true. What is true is that the harder you hit the ball, the stronger the catapult starts kicking in (but only so when one does not flat hit). So on slow balls like service return or on pushes it is very controlled and not as sensitive to incoming spin. When you smash the ball it is still fast enough to make the point, but also very controlled. But what is really amazing is when you do a fast topspin over the table. Then the ball accelerates so heavily that it gives me the impression it is even faster than a smash. I just used it playing against the best of my team members who knows I suck at smashing and even he was astonished by the speed of my attacks. For me that is perfect because I have a very spinny first top-spin and when people do block it I usually get the chance to kill it, but especially the long half high balls i get I´m not so good at scoring with. So here Vega Europe really compensates one of the big weaknesses of my game. It really makes my fh much faster. It is really very fast when you attack quickly but on the other hand it is also really very controlled when you do opening top-spins. For me as a twiddler that is also a very big advantage, because I do very often play top-spins with my backhand too but 9 out of 10 are very controlled and extremely spinny balls, so on my bh the Vega Europe really has this extra gear. You can really feel it grabs the ball no matter what kind of spin it has and gives you this moment to control it and instead of going over the table as it often happens on the bh cause it is so hard to believe how extremely closed the blade must be sometimes, the top-spins somehow find a way to sink deep enough to make it on the table. In a way the Vega Europe plays like two different inverted rubbers for me, because it really has these different gears, so that it really suits my bh and fh technique. This effect is especially well to be observed when I have chopped a ball from mid distance and my opponent pushes it into my bh so that the ball is already falling when I reach the table and can still play a really good top-spin.
Vega Europe is actually very good at everything but one has to get a feeling for the gears, cause sometimes you might hit the ball over the table because it has this strong catapult. I have used it 3 times now and on the second occasion in a competition and it worked perfectly straight away. Xiom Vega Europe is a very good inverted rubber that is extremely fast to be so controlled. It really improves the over all quality of my game, reduces mistakes in service return and speeding up my top-spins. The big window-effect is actually more than a marketing gag. It really works. Apart from all of these very postive effects i have to admit that I´ve also fallen in love with that very loud cracking sound. It`s louder than the medium soft Andro Roxon and more cracking and the rubber is also quite light.
I bought it in 2mm but I might try max some time, but for now I am very happy. It really is a great piece of hightech for an allround attacking player like me!
