Donic Defplay Senso V3

Select handle type:

4.5/5

Truly awesome blade for the modern and versatile defensive player! The worlds most successful veneer combination (5-ply allround ) is manufactured with two dampening but elastic outer plies. (Gabon and Anegre), the vibration and the speed of the blade is reduced by increasing the size of the blade by 3 mm, the Senso technology brings maximum dampening effect. The result: an unbelievable control for all defensive shots. A fantastic acceleration for all offensive shots. Pure playing excitement.

Reviews of Donic Defplay Senso V3 (14)

My style is close to modern defence but with long pips (Curl P-1R) on forehand and thinnish inverted (a 1.8 Dr. Neubauer Domination) on backhand, and I re-sized the Defplay to 157 x 149. The oversized blade was way too heavy and unwieldy, and felt like I was trying to swing one of my mum's old frying pans from the family kitchen. However, a few sessions with the oversized blade, out of curiosity, told me that is borderline godly for defensive play, with long-distance chops and fishes hitting the table with an amazing consistency. Re-sized, it became stiffer, more predictable, and faster (probably ALL- or even ALL), and doesn't feel that much slower than my old Applegren Allplay. However, it is significantly spinnier than any other all-round blade I have tried, and it obviously suits pips out and spinny chopping. Indeed, it has great dwell and feedback, although I lessened both and sped the blade up by lacquering it, even when I know that Donic blades tend to play better without varnish and are cheap enough to replace if you do rip off some wood when changing the rubbers. The upshots of the (relative) speed, though, are that long-distance chops tend to reach the other side of the table without a problem and point-ending attacks are made even easier providing you put your body into them Chinese style. As with most defensive equipment (Curl P-1R, Neubauer stuff, slowish inverted chopping rubbers, etc.), full commitment is necessary to maximise the spin from the Defplay as well as to make your shots consistent. Once you have got the hang of the blade, including the flex and the hollow handle, you can really cut the ball in two, and the amazingly comfortable straight handle really suits twiddling, too. However, the fact that the handle is hollow does affect the blade's balance even when it's resized, and if you plan on using the Defplay as a 149 x 157, you'll need to find a way to make it 5-10 grams lighter than your normal set up if you want a shorter transition period.

Great amount of control and for a really low price but need a fast rubber on it

This blade is meant for rubbers that allow you to create your own spin. Do not use the more frictionless LP such as Grass Dtecs, Bomb Talent, etc. on this blade because the blade is too soft to get reversal.

Very great paddle with a lot of feel and control

I heard good reviews concerning this blade so I purchased one for hardbat play. Sealing and some light sanding was needed for the lower wings for added hand comfort. The FL handle felt comfortable and was not to thin. With Yasaka A-1-2 OX pips I found it to be an excellent blade for hardbat. Compared to my Hock blade this one was a bit faster with the same long dwell time for great control. This is a 5ply defensive blade and would be suitable for hardbat, defensive choppers or makes a great control-allround blade with thinner rubbers. I can feel the ball vibrations very well due to the Senso handle. The price is good, the performance is excellent and highly recommend for anyone looking for a very good Def+ blade.

Best of the best. Cheapest of the cheap. I love this blade so much. I was an offensive player who loop on backhand and forehand and recently I want to experience long pimple on my backhand so I bought this Donic Defplay Senso V3. I put Donic Bluefire M2 max thickness on my forehand and Yinhe Neptune 0.6 mm on my backhand. I chop away from the table on my backhand and counter attack and loop on my forehand. This blade is not also good for chopping with long pips but also excellent with topspin and counter attack with inverted rubber. I consistently win my game against good players with this lovely blade and those rubbers. Highly recommended.

Can somebody explain what's the difference between Donic Defplay Senso and Defplay Senso V3.Thanks

This blade is magic tool. I gave two coats of sealer to it and glued Tibhar Evolution el-p on forehand and Milky way Neptune long pimples on backhand. It is perfect combo for me from the first try! I can say Evolution medium spongued rubber works like a dream on this blade. I attack balls which I prepere with pimples. Rubber has perfect touch in short play (guite hard top). Neptune with 0.7 spongue is slow enough for defence spiny balls and attack underspin is guite disturbing and verry easy to do. If you like to topspin or produce some kills it is perfect combo. I am buying another Donic Defplay Senso blade
for spare.

For me an allround blade. Perfect control. Fast enough with fast rubbers. Slow enough with def- rubbers or long pimples. And that for low price. Some profs use it

good balance between attack and defence but needs a modern tensor type rubber on f/hand and gets the ball up and down like a Ronaldo free kick when looping with the tightest spinniest looparc you`ll ever see, spinniest chopping blade that I`ve tried and also good for short blocks/chop blocks but not the best spin reversal as the damping effect is evident when blocking, however this helps when chopping with ox rubbers, when you try it you will be hooked
update 2015:heavier copies better with a little more stiffness mine was 87g then I resized it and it is 80g,hard gloss yacht varnish to forehand side for better attacking and to lessen the dwell a fraction makes stronger loopdrives and now trying t05 rubber, watch this space...
further update:I like the T05 1.9 thickness on this blade it can do everything I need, alittle bit less dwell and slightly higher throw angle with more penetration and speed than my previous 05 fx,it does speed up the Dawei ox pips a little ,may switch to p1r ox for more dampening

Wonderful control blade!

Lightweight despite being a little oversized. Amazing touch and feel.

Let me first emphasize this is not an attacker's blade by any stretch of the imagination! With a fast rubber you can make effective power shots but others do it far better. The bread and butter of this blade is in the defensive game.

Chops, pushes, blocks all shine when performed. Counter top spin loops ala the modern defense style can be performed with great control.

Comfortable flared handle. You take hold of the grip and never want to let it go! As if you just yanked excalibur from the stone... you stand in awe of the innate power now coursing through your hand.

In conclusion: A fantastic blade for defenders, control oriented players, or beginners due to the high control and soft feel.

I will state be mindful of putting overly slow rubbers on this weapon... Yes, they may work for you such as reflectoid and geospin tacky. Even for control oriented games you will eventually begin to feel the lack of power. Anyone other than a beginner should opt for a quicker setup. I can guarantee your game will improve by leaps and bounds simply by slapping a slightly faster rubber on.

Skilled hands capable of wielding this wonderstick will doubtlessly break wills and steal souls!

A number of professional players use this blade. My favorite being the female defender Wu Yang.

This is the first defensive blade I've used. The handle is not very comfortable and causes blisters. Chopping with it is good. You can feel a lot of vibrations with this blade. Blocking is not very good though.
