Great backhand rubber. Good quality as usual for Butterfly products. Medium throw, medium spin, above average speed. Maybe just a bit too soft but still not mushy. Less pace than Tenergy series, more linear than tensor rubbers.

Review by patmccloughan for Butterfly Bryce Speed FX on February 26, 2013
I've tried this for a few weeks (beginning end of Jan 2013) on both sides (b/hand 2.1 and f/hand 1.9) on a classic Stiga carbon blade. Played with original Bryce before (in my view, the best every rubber, even in the post-speed glue era). Bryce Speed FX has soft feel but very fast with decent spin and good touches (more controllable than Bryce Speed). However, I've been disapponted with it on b/hand and reverted to original Bryce on that side, which allows better control and therefore more spin and placement. Very happy now with original Bryce on b/hand (2.1) and Bryce Speed FX 1.9 on f/hand. Note that all Bryce rubbers are low-medium throw angle - these are designed for good technique players who impart speed and spin themselves from the legs up (a bit like "players' tennis rackets", where the players must make the effort). High throw rubbers like Tenergy, which I've tried and didn't like, seem to compensate for poor technique in modern players, where there appears to be heavy reliance on the rubber itself to produce speed and spin, which is worrying for the game of table tennis.

At first I thought this rubber will be very fast and hard to control, but I was wrong! It has sufficient power but it also provides good control because of its soft sponge. Throw angle is obviously low. However, Tenergy 64 is still better for a backhand rubber. Overall, this is a very good rubber.

IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY WITH LIGHTER BALLS with this rubber. such as the yelloe joerax tabletannis balls which are sometimes used in competitions as there would be extreamly low feel aswell as the control would be very less.

its better to buy a tenergy rubber then this rubber.

Really fast rubber generating more spin than original Bryce Speed. It has a soft sponge really but it doesn't mean it has a lack of controll. It's lifetime is significantly longer comapring to Bryce (rated "lats longer than average"). I'd say it's a good choice for universal attackers, it provides a variable game.

one of the best tt rubbers!
best FX tempo, best feeling, very good control but for me not enough spin!
buy it if you are an aggressive two winged offensive player who likes softer rubbers!!!

Butterfly Bryce speed FX not faster than Butterfly Bryce speed ... because of sponge haedness is very soft and cause to reduce the speed little bit.

It is more controllability.

generally, if you try to use it , you will like it.

Great rubber. Ball stays incredible low and charges forward when playing topspin. Blocking is out of this world, best rubber I have ever used for blocking, the harder faster and spinnier the ball is hit the faster it goes back with plenty of control over the shot. When pushing or playing soft blocks against short serves it seems to send the ball back with very little spin because the ball is not sinking into the rubber with these shots, I win a lot of points by just touching a spinny serve back leaving the opponet nothing to work with. The spin is produces with shots that make the ball sink into the sponge, this rubber is more mechanical spin that friction spin meaning that a player can produce high spin and speed during a powerful rally [when ball sinks in] but not have to work hard to control spinny serves [when ball does not sink in]. I would recommend this as a backhand rubber for power spin and offensive block, blocking powerful spinny loops is easy with this rubber, in fact, it's a pleasure. Looping against chop with backhand takes the best technique as it's a lot harder to do because of the extremely low throw angle.

I am giving it -1 , not 10 , because 1 pair of 1.9 was not identical like previus 1.9 or 2.1 I have tried.
Last pair has much harder sponge and effect is loss of touch , control and speed.
And one more -1 becouse 1pair=70 euro.

i like it as a bh rubber it has nice catapult feel. not too fast not too slow and very controlable. it gives me confidence when i 'm looping those hard chops or short pushes. it creates a nice curve on the ball. the bad thing is its not enough to put a way the ball but it can open up for a fh shot.

I give this rating based upon what Bryce Speed FX was made for. It counterloops well. Blocks are out of this world with excellent control but very fast. Looping dead ball and counter-drive is a breeze but looping under-spin takes very good technique. This is an exceptional backhand rubber. The throw angle is lower so it is great for fast spiny loops and backhand drives. The sponge is soft for good control on over the table shots and blocking and looping at mid to long distance from the table.

bryce speed fx is kind of like inverse of tenergy 05. it is for similar game, for really hard loopers, but it has a completely different feel to it.

I personally do not like looping with bryce speed fx a lot. this rubber is for people who liek to look very low balls, with lots of speed. the throw angle is teh most noticeable feature. it is very very low. some ppl may like this feature for looping, but i personally do not like the lowness. it is good for blocking though, i never had a probelm with hitting the ball too long. the speed is maybe faster, but the shot is much more straight with no arch.

The Bryce Speed Fx Red 2.1mm is a unique rubber. It has a low throw angle, but has decent spin and control. The shots produced with this rubber are extremely fast! This is a great rubber for advanced players who have a solid stroke and are consistent with their shots. I recommend it for backhand, as it is great rubber for smashing, looping, and blocking. You can easily counterloop the ball because of its low throw but high spin and control. If you are looking for one of those rubbers that will produce a "high fly" high arc loop, this is probably not the best choice. The ball goes almost straight out, so you have to have good timing and good strokes. Its capability to create fast, spinny, "charging" shots makes it a great backhand rubber to use!

The best rubber for players attackers, quick and with great control.
It is not my case, but I loved this rubber.
It allows long-distance attacks on the table without compromising the control and spin.
The best rubber with which've played!
I recommend it to anyone who enjoys played fast and with spin.

A rubber even faster than Bryce FX? No way! But here it is another excellent offering from Butterfly. Someone has told me that this is one of the most popular backhand rubber in Korea right now. It is EXTREMELY fast, so fast that it's fairly difficult to play with. The topsheet is pretty grippy, which is typical from Butterfly, but its high speed prevents you from really generating too much spin.

There's not really any glue effect in this rubber, but it does make a very loud CRACK sound when striking the ball (no click sound). Similar to its predecessor Bryce FX, it has a low throw angle, thus making it very friendly to counter loop, but harder to loop backspin. Great durability and another great rubber from Butterfly.

I love this rubber!! This rubber is bryce fx on steroids. The speed is great, spin is great and the touch is fantastic. I can't forget the control which is great as well. I am using a balsa X3 blade so this is my opinion with this blade. I glued these rubbers with free chack and it is still awesome. The sound is forever, so gone are the days of speed glue. I can't talk enough about this rubber but just to love it.

This rubber is pretty much a faster version of Bryce FX. It plays very consistently and has a very good feeling to it. If u were using Bryce or Bryce FX before and want a faster replacement for it with the new glue ban. This rubber may do the job for you.

Ide recommend it to a attacker who enjoys more speed than spin

Like Bryce Speed, this rubber is fantastic. The spin is very good on both serves and loops (unglued). The speed is excellent when I hit even a medium fast loop. The rubber has a crisp feeling at the table when new.

I think Bryce Speed FX is slightly slower than Bryce Speed, yet still plenty fast for my FH side. Butterfly rates it as as fast and spinny for some reason - but I don't see how it can be, given that its sponge is quite a lot softer.

Bryce Speed FX is very soft. You can feel the ball sink in, but it catapults out at great speed.

There's definitely no click with Bryce Speed FX on either my Maze or Iolite blades, but it's low throw. I much prefer this sponge to that of regular Bryce.

Because the durability of Bryce Speed is very good, you shouldn't consider it as expensive. You need to look at cost per year rather than cost per sheet.
