Flared Handle

The first Butterfly Carbon blade designed for the allround and or controlled offensive player. Tested by Andrzei Grubba, he says the Grubba Carbon is an allround blade with an enlarged sweet spot. Simply perfect, a totally new feeling.

I'm playing this blade since 2000 and it is, for me, still the best blade I've ever had. Before the Grubba Carbon I played a Primorac OFF- and in comparison to this the Grubba Carbon offers a lot more control and a massively bigger sweet spot. Because of the stiffness and the hard surface of this blade the classic top spin is a bit harder to play than with the Primorac or a Hinoki-blade but you get a very good "straight"-play-blade with a good control so typical blocking can be done with a very high precision of the return direction combined with quite high speed of the return. Not so easy to handle for your opponent... ;) A disadvantage, for some maybe, is the quite high weight of this blade. Together with the two classic sriver rubbers, it is one of the heaviest racket compared to others in my team. I do not want to try how heavy it would be with two 2mm Tenergys.

Quite quick, and hard blade. Topspin play is not so comfortable, I recommend softer rubbers.

This is my first carbon blade. I decided i wanted to try a carbon blade which is not too fast and not too expensive so i ended up with Grubba Carbon which is rated All+. I have this with Sriver and Sriver-EL. At first it felt light and i could feel vibrations when i hit the ball. My drives for me feels slow than what i like but are spinny and truly has a big sweet spot. I think i've had a lot more successful blocks and returns with this blade/set-up. I may end up trying Tenery 05 on it to fix my speed concerns. Overall very good blade for controlled play with some punch on offense.

I've played with this blade for several months and found it unusable.
The blade category (ALL+) is misleading. That's a carbon blade having a hard feeling and a low control.
Even if is used with a slow rubber a lack of control is a bit sensible.
So it's not suitable for the beginners who look for the more control from one side but from another side it's not fast enough for the advanced players.

A weird experiment by Butterfly. It´s a Carbon Allround blade, but it´s not as fast as carbon and control is less than any other Allround allwood blade, so if you want speed don´t try it, and if you want control&balance you´ll find better alternatives...

Just only for collectors. Dissapointing.
